Estimating Price
Generally, the price of a painting or drawing is based on size and most pieces will fall
into the price structure below.
Kirk may raise or lower the price depending on the amount of detail,
or lack of, that the client may require for some paintings and drawings. In addition, if quality reference
material is difficult to find or photography is required, the price may be raised.
You are ALWAYS free to contact Kirk to discuss any
project for an estimate or exact quote.
Pricing A Drawing
Drawings are done on paper using graphite pencils. Kirk prices his drawings by total
square inches and to reflect the amount of time and effort that goes into producing the artwork. Drawings
are priced at approximately $0.70 cents per square inch.
Below are a few standard paper sizes to help you estimate cost. Minimum size for a
drawing is 10" x 14". Custom paper sizes are available. Minimum size for a drawing of two or more individuals is 16"
x 20".

Pricing A Painting
Kirk prices his paintings by total square inches and to reflect the amount of time and
effort that is put into producing the painting. Options can be discussed to meet almost
any budget.
- Acrylic paintings on CANVAS are priced at approximately $0.85
cents per square inch. Acrylic paint is applied to stretched canvas on 3" wooden stretchers.
- Acrylic paintings on GESSO BOARD are priced at approximately $0.80 cents
per square inch. Acrylic paint is applied to 1/4" thick primed masonite hard board.
- Acrylic paintings on PAPER are priced at approximately $0.75 cents per
square inch. Acrylic paint is applied to heavy bond water color paper.
Below are a few standard sizes to help you estimate cost. Minimum size for a painting on canvas is 18"
x 24". Minimum size for a painting on paper or gesso board is 16" x 20".

Pricing A Mural Painting
The size, surface, complexity, and location of the mural (interior, exterior) all have to be considered
before determining a price for a mural. Murals must be done on location which may require travel expenses.
Pricing a mural begins by calculating total square footage. Time and complexity must also be considered.
- Murals are priced at approximately $10-$20 per square foot. This does not include cost of
materials required to prepare the surface, if necessary, and other possible expenses.

Pricing Painted Furniture
Painted wooden furniture items such as stools, cradles, chairs, dressers, desks, etc., vary
greatly in cost. The size of the piece and complexity of the desired theme or motif must be considered when
pricing. Please contact Kirk to discuss having a piece of wooden furniture painted. You may provide the
peice of furniture for Kirk to paint. Kirk can also locate an appropriate piece for you, if necessary. Pricing
for painted furniture items BEGINS at $75 (minimum).
Pricing A Custom Skateboard
Custom Skateboards may involve painting the BLANK DECK (you apply your own hardware)
or a COMPLETE SKATEBOARD (ready to ride). The cost to customize the blank skateboard deck alone (no
wheels, trucks, etc.) BEGINS at $75 (minimum). The cost to customize and complete a skateboard with trucks, grip
tape, wheels, etc., will very depending on the quality of the hardware you desire. The cost to design and paint the
deck begins at $75, you must then add on the cost of the hardware to complete the skateboard. A minimum cost for
a good complete skateboard would be approximately $120.
Please note, the complexity of the design (theme/motif) may increase price.
The more complex the desired design, the more time consuming it is to produce. Please contack Kirk to discuss your
design and a price if interested in customizing a skateboard.
Payment Schedule, Time Requirements, Shipping
Price will be determined when all concerned have discussed and agreed upon the requirements of the piece and a fee
for the completed work.
- COMMITTMENT FEE: Fifty percent (50%) of the fee is required before work can begin on the artwork.
This is considered a "committment fee" and will be applied toward the cost of materials.
- BALANCE: The remaining balance of fifty percent (50%) is due upon completion of the artwork. Artwork will
be delivered when payment in full, including expenses if necessary, has been received by Kirk Timmons.
- FRAMING: All pricing is for UNFRAMED work. Framing can be recommended or arranged through the artist if needed. The
cost of framing, if provided by Kirk, will be applied to the final price.
- TIME REQUIREMENTS: The time required to complete artwork is based on several factors. The larger and more detailed
the painting or drawing, the longer it will take to complete. On average, Kirk can complete a drawing
in 2-3 weeks from the date of commission, a painting in 4-6 weeks of the date of commission, and a mural in 8-12
weeks of the date of commission. These are only estimations.
- SHIPPING EXPENSES: If artwork needs to shipped or mailed, the expenses will be added to the final price. The price
of the artwork does not include shipping costs if necessary. Payment must be received by Kirk Timmons before completed items
will be shipped if shipping is required.
Digital images of proposed designs, work in progress, and completed artwork will be provided via email. If work
is to be shipped, a digital image of the completed artwork will be emailed to you for final approval of completed artwork.
Payment in full, including shipping expenses, must be received by Kirk Timmons before completed artwork will be shipped
if shipping is required.
